v04.30.00:
PS2 classics can now be booted up via multiMAN, with special thanks to flat_z and IngPereira
DeanK has been hard at work once again and he has now released multiMAN 04.30.00, which now supports "various 4.40CFWs", and now aids in booting up PS2 games with the game images encrypted and named as "ISO.BIN.ENC" in conjunction with Captain CPS-X's "PS2 Classics Placeholder" application, by linking the ISO to the PS2-dedicated application, and thus, the "PS2 Classics Placeholder" application needs to be installed in order for it to work

* Added support for 4.30DEX CFW (REBUG) (TBA)
* Added support for PS1 BIN+CUE (using ps1_emu/netemu) for 3.55DEX, 4.21DEX and 4.30DEX
* Added DynaRec support: New option in Settings "Enable DYNAREC"
* DYNAREC support for 3.55CEX/DEX, 4.21CEX/DEX, 4.30CEX/DEX, 4.31CEX
* Fixed few minor issues in 4x2 and 8x4 modes (refreshing the game title when insert/ejecting a PS3 game disc)
* Fixed a very rare bug in mmOS when icon names/texts are getting corrupted
DYNAREC support tested on 4.21REX and 4.30ROGERO with ps3sx_Beta.pkg which is enough to assume that the implementation is proper. Thanks to Ing. Pereira for the htab info and PeteUK for the testing. All offsets can be found in my source below so Ing. Pereira can port his app for other firmwares, too. Also there is an easier way to detect all CFW firmwares and I posted about it at the end of this post.
=============================================
Here is a slightly modified PS3SX:
* You can install it on any mM supported firmware (3.55CEX/DEX, 4.21CEX/DEX, 4.30CEX/DEX, 4.31CEX)
* The configuration file is USRDIR/CF.ini
* Comes with bios and all paths set properly where the default ROM path is /dev_hdd0/PSXISO
* EBOOT.BIN calls RELOAD.SELF so you can boot PS3SX directly from multiMAN
* It has VERY POOR compatibility but shows that dynarec is working on all firmwares.
PS3SX [BETA].pkg (5.95MB)
Download PS3SX [BETA].pkg from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way
You can enable DynaRec in mM's settings and directly load PS3SX from mM's GAME column. Thanks to aldostools for the cover. Developers can use this dynarec option in mM if they wish to test their apps in this environment.
=============================================
The implementation in mM is different than IngPereira's approach, because it doesn't use the 0x700000 area for the payload and the patches, there are no issues with PKG files and works on all firmwares. Still the kammy data for the hvsc redirections is used, but dynarec's usage is greatly simplified by an "On/Off" option in mM.
I'm just saying this because some morons will go again with their idiotic comments about copy/pasting. Parts of the mM code is here, along with info how to make it work on all firmwares.
v04.20.02:
multiMAN ver 04.20.02 update is available online and in the WEB column.
There are some minor changes and optimizations.
* When using /net_host to load PS3 games via mmDM+ProDG - the scan/refresh is greatly improved. I'll appreciate feedback on that.
* There is a new option in "Settings" - "Expand Contents of XMMB media columns (net_host)" - default is "No". When disabled, mM will only scan for PS3 games in FOLDER FORMAT from the remote hosts. It will not scan for DVD/BD iso files or other non-game content.

v04.20.01:
multiMAN 04.20.01 online update (1.2MB STEALTH, 1.7MB CEX, 2.8MB DEX) is available now.
Requires 04.20.00 BASE or FULL installed (everyone who updated online to 04.20.00 already got the 04.20.00 BASE).
* Added support for lastGAME5 for loading PS1 backups from the "Load Last Title" icon on XMB
* Added support for Emulator-grouping selection in the SIDE menu in RETRO column
* Fixed mM last-state-save when loading "bd-mirror"/"ext. game data" games
* The improved discless compatibility now allows for skipping mandatory gamedata install for some games
* Updated lastGAME, bdRESET and gameDATA to version 5 to support mM 04.20.00+. Downloads available in the web column, too.

v04.20.00:
* Introducing the new mM payload which makes mM independent and easy to port for various firmwares
* Supports only 3.55 CEX/DEX, 4.21 CEX/DEX, 4.30 CEX, 4.31 CEX
* BD-ROM Emulator option in Settings can be set to "Enable / Disable" - no more "Hermes"/"Standard"
* Compatibility-wise it is better than "Standard" and "Hermes".
* This payload overwrites 252 bytes of strings in LV2 memory (and not 4000 bytes of code like other payloads), it doesn't use syscalls and doesn't rely on firmware functions, executes fast and improves performance
* Added option in settings "Redirect /app_home":
--- Disable (/app_home will not be mounted at all)
--- Enable (/app_home as used in previous versions - points to the game - for disc-less)
--- Toolbox (on Rogero firmwares with pre-installed toolbox if you play from discs only - it allows you to return to stealthMAN without restart)
* For 3.55DEX and 4.21DEX mM now supports split-games, adds better disc-less compatibility and also allows loading of PS1 backups in BIN+CUE format from internal/external.
* IMPROVED DISC-LESS COMPATIBILITY:
The new payload allows for some tweaks and there is 80% chance that games that didn't work disc-less will now work.
------------------
v04.19.07:
* Added support for multi-disc games when using PS1_NETEMU emulator
With this update the ps1 backups support saga should be concluded.
Dean
---------------
v04.19.06:
multiMAN 04.19.06 minor update is available online and in the web column.
-------------------------------------
* Added support for PSXEMU/PSXNETEMU emulator selection for PS1 BIN+CUE backups (Press [Triangle] -> Game Settings)
* When using PSX NETEMU option the disc backups must be in MODE1 or MODE2 / 2352 (or more) bytes sector
* Multi-disc games are not supported in this initial PS1_NETEMU-support version
The default launch mode for PS1 file backups is "AUTO" = PSX EMU. Some games may require or look/perform better when using PSX NETEMU. The patched versions were tested on 4.30 and 4.21, but hopefully 3.41 and 3.55 versions will work too.
This method is similar to the ps1_emu.self patching and doesn't affect other apps nor uses system calls which make break other apps.
Allegato 9025

v04.19.05:
multiMAN 04.19.05 minor update is available online and in the web column (CEX/DEX/STEALTH).
Added support for PS2 disc add-ons for PS3 games like SingStar:
"[PS2" prefix in folder name required
Example: /dev_hdd0/GAMES/SingStar-Dance/[PS2 Pop] where [PS2 Pop] contains a backup of your PS2 disc
You can have up to 10 [PS2] add-on discs per PS3 game. In the screenshot above the following folder structure was used:
/dev_usb000/GAMES/SingStar-Dance <--- This is the PS3 game listed in the Game column
mM detects the add-on PS2 discs and will list them in the pop-up menu when you load the game:
/dev_usb000/GAMES/SingStar-Dance/[PS2 Pop]
/dev_usb000/GAMES/SingStar-Dance/[PS2 Disney]
/dev_usb000/GAMES/SingStar-Dance/[PS2 Party]
/dev_usb000/GAMES/SingStar-Dance/[PS2]
To have a PS2 disc to be listed in the pop-up menu the folder name must start with [PS2 like in the examples above.
[Hermes] option for BD-ROM Emulator must be used and a PS3 disc is required. Later for the PS2 swap you'll need an original PS2 disc.
Don't forget that you can backup your original PS2 discs in folder format using mmOS.
Thanks to @Portnyashka for the tests and suggestions.

* Added support for creating ISO files from PS1 game discs
* Improved support for PS1 ISO/BIN/IMG/MDF
====
About the PS1 improvement: I have NFS:Porsche and it works fine from disc but not from ISO/BIN. The issue was in the patched ps1_emu.self (ATAPI 0x43 READ TOC) which I believe breaks some games (like because of missing .CUE sheet processing). I hope that this fix (which is included in mM 04.19.02) will fix issues with other games that crashed or had some audio issues.

=======================================
Few weeks ago some people requested a 'minimalistic' version of multiMAN. For them I created this package:
multiMAN ver 04.17.04 BARE CEX (20121226) (only 3.8MB)
Download multiMAN ver 04.17.04 BARE CEX (20121226).pkg
This is a skinned down version (BARE). It can be installed on any PS3 without the need of a previous mM installation. It is like a "base" but the differences are:
* Simple theme (2MB) (no theme music)
* No GUI translations (English only)
* No user fonts (only system fonts will be used)
* No PS1/PS2/PSP names/IDs database (no game names will be displayed)
* AIOMOD not included (old BD-Mirror method for USB games will be used on 4.21+CFWs)
Do not use it unless you're the one who asked for it. BARE can be installed on any firmware for normal users who don't really need any of the listed above features. Of course NONE of these features are present in other BUMs so everyone should be happy. It can be installed on top of your current mM if you wish to test it (you will not notice much difference, because you already have the fonts/translations/aiomod/themes installed).
This bare version is suitable for:
* English speaking users
* All 3.41/3.55 (non Cobra/TB) firmwares
* All 4.21+ firmwares (disc may be required when booting bd-mirror USB games if AIOMOD.BIN is not present)
* Weeners who complain all the time that 130MB is too much for a stupid PS3 homebrew like mM
