As far as I can tell from reading through it they aren't altering systems to lock them into only being able to run the True Blue hack.
They have instead created a basic form of copy protection to stop someone from being able to duplicate the contents of one of these USB drives and have it run on another model of USB drive. You can bypass the check by creating a file USB:\TRUEBLUE_IS_THE_BEST_-_FUCK_THE_HATERS which contains the vendor ID and product ID of the USB drive you want to run it on.
